Hello, Elsa.

I have been thinking more about my earliest years. My people of origin. My memories are fogged by time, war, and unsavory work between, but even so, I remember something of the old ways. Much would have been barbaric by the standards of 2008. Much seems barbaric to me now. But there was some truth to the rhythm, I think.

We offered votives. We made sacrifices. I would like to make one for you in a way that sits with your God.

[godric speaks of sacrifice and she reminds herself his earth is different, but not separate, from her own. the offer is one that gives her pause– godric has his own traditions, certainly lived through more than she's ever experienced, and while she respects his beliefs, it seems a little...intense, though it doesn't snuff out her curiosity.]

Why would I want a sacrifice in my name?

To enter into a covenant with this world and the things that inhabit it. For luck. Out of respect. In honor. And with curiosity.

It might be something small. A carving. A piece of jewelry. A flower grown by your own hand. I was raised by the water and I think this lake is very powerful. You know something of that, don't you? You understand this in your own way.

Which waters were you raised by?

Lake Geneva. In the nation you would know as France. Supposedly not far from here, if the roads are measured by ordinary steps and not some hallucination.

Gold is very good. Where was yours mined from? Do you know?
